What is the Chest Press?
A chest press is a compound weightlifting exercise that requires the user to push weight away from the chest. These types of exercises benefit the chest, shoulder and triceps and are at the core of most upper body fitness programs. All chest press exercises share the same basic motion. The user begins by holding the weight with his or her arms bent at the elbow until the hands are level with the chest. Then, in a smooth and controlled motion, he or she pushes the weight away from the chest until the arms are completely straight. Then he or she slowly returns the arms to their original position.

The angle of the bench in regard to both the ground and the motion of the weight determine the benefits of the Chest Press exercise. The GreenGym Chest Press puts the user at incline so that when he or she presses the weight away from his or her chest it puts more stress on the upper part of the chest, giving it a more intense workout.

Benefit to All Users
Having a fit upper body allows a person to complete everyday tasks with less stress, both on muscles and on the cardiovascular system. An important benefit of upper-body strength is that it helps to avoid some particularly troublesome injuries such as repetitive stress injuries.

Benefits to Seniors
Not surprisingly, arms, shoulders, necks, and backs are more resilient and resistant to injury when they're strong and in good condition. As we age muscle strength deteriorates all over. Having good upper-body strength can help prevent injuries. There is no question that keeping your upper body strong can go a long way towards saving your lower back. Even if you make a conscious effort to lift heavy objects carefully, no one does it correctly every time. Having good upper-body strength will help to compensate for any extra strain put on the lower back when lifting heavy objects.
