What is the Warm-up & Stretch Station?
The Warm-up & Stretch Station is a low impact exercise that focuses primarily on the Core Muscles - abdominals, obliques and lower back. The exercise can be performed from either the standing or the sitting position. The user twists gently to the right and left engaging the core muscles and controlling the slow rotations of the abdomen.
This exercise can have different benefits depending on how it is performed. A slow, relaxed twisting motion will provide a great stretch for the abdomen and lower back. If the user engages the core muscles and focuses on using the core to twist the disc it will also provide a great core strengthening exercise. If this core strengthening exercise is repeated for a length of time it will also provide a low impact, low intensity cardiovascular workout.
Benefits to All Users
Having both a standing and a seated variatallows for a greater variety of users to engage in this exercise, especially those with limited mobility. This exercise is low impact and can be performed at any fitness level. These slow stretching exercises can stimulate blood flow, increase circulation and improve digestion. Stretching the lower back can reduce the risk of injury and vastly improve flexibility and range of motion.
